Colombians climb Mount Everest

Two Colombians on Monday achieved to reach the highest point of the Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. One of the two conquered the mountain with one leg.

The two men, Nelson Cardona and Rafael Avila announced their arrival on the highest peak on Monday. “Today, May 17, 2010, at 11:15AM Nepalese time, from the base camp of Mount Everest we officially announce that our dream has become reality,” a press release by the climbers’ expedition said.

Nelson Cardona had wanted to climb the Mount Everest in 2007 already, but had to cancel that trip because he lost his right leg while training for the climb. This time, with prothesis, he was able to reach his goal.
